This quote really grabbed my attention. I was surprised to see it was written by none other than Charles Spurgeon himself. Credits go to http://www.proverbs14verse1.blogspot.com/ where I first saw it posted.

“O dear mothers, you have a very sacred trust reposed in you by God!

He hath in effect said to you, “Take this child and nurse it for Me, and I will give thee thy wages.” You are called to equip the future man of God, that he may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work. If God spares you, you may live to hear that pretty boy speak to thousands, and you will have the sweet reflection in your heart that the quiet teachings of the nursery led the man to love his God and serve Him.

Those who think that a woman detained at home by her little family is doing nothing, think the reverse of what is true. Scarcely can the godly mother quit her home for a place of worship; but dream not that she is lost to the work of the church; far from it, she is doing the best possible service for her Lord.

Mothers, the godly training of your offspring is your first and most pressing duty.”

~Charles Spurgeon

Milking

I love it when clear out of the blue one of my children will say something that takes me off guard and makes me laugh. Tonight Abbie Joy was on her bed looking at a picture book about life on an Amish farm. She told me that the cow was going tinkle. I got up to see what she was talking about. The picture was of a little Amish girl milking a cow. You could see the stream of milk squirting into the bucket. Abbie Joy knows nothing about milking a cow and thus came to the conclusion that the milk cow was going tinkle. Oh my goodness gracious! I thought it was hysterical. She is just too cute and innocent sometimes.

A Quiet Mind

"When winds are blowing, waves are rising, falling, And all the air is full of dust and spray; When voices, like to sea birds’ plaintive calling, Confuse my day; Then, then I know Thee, Lord of highest heaven, In newborn need discover Thee, and find, Nought can discomfort him to whom is given a quiet mind." --Amy Carmichael

Father Abraham!!!

Tonight we were driving back from Lauren's piano lesson when Miss Abigail Joy pipes up from row three of the passenger van. "Mama, watch me" "Mama, I show you something." At this point she started singing, "Many Sons.....Many Sons Had Faawwther Abwaham." It was hilarious to me, because I have memories of singing that as a little girl growing up and of teaching that song to children at church, etc. I asked Abbie Joy where she learned that song. " I learn that at church." To her it was something totally new and exciting, and to me it is something as old as her Mama. I don't remember not knowing that song! Wow, we have sure come full circle here. I really never expected her to bust out with that song; she just totally took me off guard, and the laugh was good for me. Then we drove home with me entertaining her by singing all verses while swinging my arms and stomping my feet WHILE DRIVING. Yes, I was careful. :)

Talking to Jesus

This little girl is so funny. She does not miss a beat. Sometimes I won't even realize she is listening and thinking about things and then she will ask a question that clues me in on how perceptive she is. The other night I prayed for the little girls. Afterwards Abbie Joy said, "You talk to Jesus for me, Mama?" She realized that I was talking to Jesus about her. It was a sweet moment.

Happy Fifth Birthday!

It has been a very long time since I posted anything on this blog. Life has been very busy, my camera has been broken, and I just have not gotten around to it. I could not, however, fail to blog about my sweetie's purple birthday party. This little girl LOVES purple! Her nursery was the prettiest purple when she was brought home from the hospital. I think I did soooo much pink with my first girl that it was fun to do a lot of purple with my second. Is that why she LOVES purple??? I don't know, but we had a lot of fun with this color themed birthday party. My sweet first born made the beautiful cupcakes and decorated the party room entirely by herself. As you can see we had everything from purple Kool Aid to purple candy. We even all wore purple clothing. It was very PURPLE and very fun. Happy fifth birthday to our sweet Annagrace!
